About the Hall
Hoxne Village Hall has its roots in a very different time. It began as a simple reading room for working men — a quiet place where villagers could gather, learn and share news. Over the years, as the needs of the community changed, the building changed with them.
By the 1960s it had formally become a charity, dedicated to serving the people of Hoxne and the surrounding area. Generations of local residents passed through its doors, but by the end of the 20th century the hall was showing its age. The structure was tired, the facilities outdated, and it was clear that the building needed new life if it was to continue its role at the centre of village life.
A major refurbishment followed — a transformation that respected the hall’s history while preparing it for the future. The result is the welcoming, well‑equipped venue we know today, complete with a stage, lounge, bar, kitchen and flexible spaces used for everything from community events to celebrations and performances.
What hasn’t changed is the spirit behind it. The hall is still run entirely by local volunteers who give their time to keep it thriving. If you’d like to be part of that story and join our friendly team, we’d be delighted to hear from you via the Contact page.
